The brilliant colors of fall come out to play this week in Montréal on city walks, in seasonal dishes, on stage in dance, theatre and reside music, and even in an out-of-this-world Björk artwork exhibition.
Autumnal actions

The week abounds with classical music, beginning with a Montréal Symphony Orchestra live performance of Japanese European music that includes violinist James Ehnes at Maison symphonique on Friday – the violinist and orchestra return to Place des Arts on Sunday to carry out works by Beethoven, Franck and Ravel. The Canadian International Organ Competition’s Festival continues to Oct. 30, that includes a guided tour of the town’s organs, a Tribute to Raymond Daveluy, live shows at St-Joseph’s Oratory and extra. The OFF JAZZ Festival presents Daybreak Tyler Watson and Roscoe Mitchell this weekend. Legendary pianist and composer Ludovico Einaudi performs at Place des Arts’ Maison symphonique on Oct. 15. The Montréal Symphony Orchestra pairs with The Azrieli Music Project celebrating Jewish music, together with The Seven Heavenly Halls by composer Brian Present on Oct. 19. Kent Nagano conducts the Montréal Symphony Orchestra once more on Thursday for the 50th anniversary of the Montréal metro, at Place des Arts, and Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson and the American Modern Music Ensemble astound at Cinquième Salle.
